​Viktor Šest was born in 1956 in Ljubljana, where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1981. At first, he was employed as a technical and art editor at Založba Obzorja, but since 1984 he has been working as an independent artist. He lives and works in Maribor. His artistic world is full of caricatures with motifs from the everyday world, it is an experience in which we feel the author's cheerfulness and playing with bold colors. His style is unique, figures and drawings are constants in Šest's painting. He is drawn to the human figure, such as the individuals seen at a game of billiards, at a quarto table, in the moment before a ballet performance. His theme of music is particularly important, in the context of which he depicts individuals with various musical instruments, sometimes also as group portraits of musicians, and his portraits of elderly generals and, last but not least, Don Quixote are especially indispensable. Sest presents his work at individual and group exhibitions both at home and abroad.
