Janko Kastelic was born on 4 April 1953 in Pivka. He studied painting privately. In 1984, he became a member of the Association of Slovenian Visual Artists, and since 1993 he has had the status of a freelance artist. He started exhibiting independently in 1975 and since then he has presented his works at 71 exhibitions in Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, America, the Netherlands and elsewhere. With his works, he participated in more than 300 group exhibitions, art colonies and other art events at home and abroad, for which he received 26 awards. As an independent cultural worker, he lives and creates in Sežana.
